These fat little peppers are everyone's favorite. Only medium hot, it is versatile and more approachable than it's fellow hot peppers. Like most peppers, it loves the heat and is super productive in summer heat over 100 degrees. If you are in a zone without frost, it can also grow as a perennial. Just remember to fertilize it at the beginning of the second spring!

 

To plant, simply sow your seeds in well-drained soil and keep them in a warm and sunny location. Once your plants have grown to 2-3 inches tall, transplant them to your garden or a large pot. Jalapeños are easy to grow and require minimal maintenance, making them perfect for gardeners of all skill levels. When it comes time to harvest, simply pick the peppers once they have turned bright green and are firm to the touch. These versatile peppers can be eaten fresh, pickled, or used to add a kick to your favorite dishes.
